Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc ’17

At first it might seem strange to crave a crisp Sauvignon Blanc this time of year, but it actually makes perfect sense if you think about it. December is full of holiday food, which tends toward the rich, dare I say gluttonous side. To cut through all of that heaviness and provide a balance on your palate, reach for the Dog Point Sauv Blanc.

Wintertime is citrus-time, and the overt lime and grapefruit notes present in the Dog Point seem so appropriate in this well-crafted New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. The wine’s structure and balance make it work in chilly temps. Along with the tropical aromas, juicy fruit, and refreshing citrus, there is a stony minerality, softness and roundness that makes this a medium-bodied white. Food friendly yet delicious all on it’s own, Dog Point is one that you’ll return to.

Pleasant companion for: Goat cheese, aged cheese, soft-ripened cheese, charcuterie, oysters and other shellfish, halibut and salmon, poultry, creamy risottos and pastas, pizza, roasted vegetables, fresh salads, ethnic and spicy food, light meat.

Try with our Potato, Rosemary and Garlic Pizza.
