Some people make resolutions to eat better, some do a dry January, others go on an exercise kick, but what’s wrong with resolving to drink more wine? Maybe it’s actually one we can keep. (Ha!) Enfield’s 2016 Pretty Horses is an excellent place to start. These wines are buzzing right now, and there’s good reason. Quite simply, this red blend is delicious. With only 9 barrels produced (that’s roughly 2,700 bottles), get your hands on a few bottles while they last. And since Utah liquor stores offer a lower markup for small producers, Utahns can get this wine for less than typically found in other states.
Pretty Horses has been expertly crafted to create an exceptional sensory experience from start to finish. Bright red berries and fresh cracked pepper waft from the glass, leading into an initial spice on the palate from the Tempranillo. Smooth, perfectly structured, juicy and fresh, this is not your typical California red blend. You won’t find those typical jammy, high alcohol and fruit forward qualities, but instead soft tannins, great texture, and a long finish. It is infinitely drinkable and a great food pairing wine.
Pleasant companion for: Tomato based sauces (lasagnas, pastas, stews), grilled or smoked meats, mildly spicy foods (Mexican, Indian), burgers, sausages, earthy vegetables such as eggplant, mushrooms, roasted root vegetables.
Try with our Sausage & Cheese Stuffed Jalapenos.
