Hard to imagine as we write this post, but school for the kiddos is winding down, desert camping season is in full swing, and the northern stretches of our fair state will, eventually, dry out and warm up. This weekend marks the beginning of long days, fresh local produce, and (some would argue, ahem…) one of the best seasons in Utah, summertime. We have a great red for celebrating this holiday weekend, and it’s a wine that can carry you all the way thru to the fall, whenever a light-bodied red fits the bill.
Our first impression of the Hahn Pinot Noir was the intense summer fruit aromatics in the glass. A sweet, fresh strawberry nose so prevalent you can almost taste it. Then… on the palate even more ripe berries, so juicy and sweet, yet incredibly balanced by the wine’s acidity and soft tannins. A slight waft of smoke provides grounding, while the minerality keeps it light and able to be enjoyed in warmer climes and with summer vegetables.
Pleasant companion for: grilled vegetables such as eggplant, peppers, and summer squash, roasted potatoes or potato salads, grilled chicken, fish, or meat, pizzas and pastas, grain or bean salads, a variety of cheeses, spicy food, burgers and other cookout far.
Try with our Sour Cream & Caramelized Onion Dip.
