You might not think to go to a crisp, acidic white at this time of year, but it’s a beautiful foil for hot and spicy ethnic food. This Austrian wine has just the right amount of body to match bold flavors, with the right amount of acidity to tame spiciness and cut through richness. Add delicious hints of melon, pear and citrus, and you’ve got a winner.
Pinot Blanc is related to Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio, and while they share certain qualities, the wines these grapes produce vary greatly. Pinot Blancs tend to be rounder and more medium to full-bodied than Pinot Gris or Grigio, and less acidic on the palate. The Höpler , like most Pinot Blancs, is not aged in oak and is a dry white with bright fruit. This is a value wine, fresh with hints of grapefruit, and incredibly approachable.
