Prazo de Roriz ’15

Portugal is always a great bet for value driven wines. While traveling through a few years ago, what stood out was how delicious and varied their wine production is, and how affordable their prices. Between holidays, when the nights fall early and the days are cold, we want to cozy up to this red blend from Douro.

The 2015 Prazo de Roriz is comprised of several different grape varietals, all indigenous to Portugal. Dark red berries, liquorice and spice are supported by supple tannins and a clean finish. Aged in French oak for only 6 months, this medium-bodied wine is meant to be drunk young. Its balanced character lends itself to pair with a variety of foods, especially hearty, wintry vegetables and stews.

Pleasant companion for: Soft goat cheese, blue cheese, hard aged cheese, light meats such as pork, veal, rabbit and poultry, hearty vegetables such as potatoes, winter squash, mushrooms and root vegetables, stews, pizzas, and rich pastas.

Try with our Vegetable Tortellini Soup.
