Tapiz Chardonnay ’15

At an elevation of 4,600 feet, grapes grown in Mendoza, Argentina for the Tapiz Chardonnay are robust in flavor from hot sunny days and cool crisp nights. Tamed by the winemakers to create a balanced yet complex white, the fruit imparts flavors of kiwi, peach, and other tropical notes. Tapiz translates to “tapestry,” and indeed the elements have been expertly woven together to a full-bodied, creamy and smooth Chard, with an acidity and touch of minerality that ties it all together.

The oak is present, but not overwhelming. Just 5% of the wine is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels, and the rest in stainless steel. This results in a very pleasant, incredibly drinkable Chardonnay that will pair excellently with a bounty of farmer’s market vegetables and seasonal fare.

Pleasant companion for: Late summer vegetables such as peppers, corn, butternut squash, potatoes. Grilled or roasted shellfish, meaty white fish, poultry, creamy washed-rind cheeses, mild aged cheeses, creamy sauces, stone fruit, fresh herbs and tender lettuces.
