The Chocolate Block ’16

We’ve had this rec up our sleeve for a while… waiting for the perfect opportunity to feature this amazing South African red blend. We were first introduced to this gem by our great SA friend (who graciously brings a bottle in tow around the holidays, birthdays, or just as a special treat… because that’s how he rolls!).

The Chocolate Block is the clear choice for Valentine’s Day. There is so much to the aroma, you could almost drink it with your nose. Peach, orange, vanilla, cloves, cardamom, pepper, and blackberries create excitement and anticipation of your first sip. And then oh man, it’s luscious texture… rich, full, and luxurious on the palate. The smooth tannins are reminiscent of cocoa, and lead into an ultra long finish.

Pleasant companion for: red meat, poultry, hard and aged cheeses, charcuterie, shellfish and seafood such as tuna, salmon, swordfish, spicy and ethnic foods, roasted vegetables.

Try with our Sheet Pan Arctic Char with Roasted Grapes & Shallots.
