So we haven’t spent much time in the box wine aisle at the liquor store, but when this wine was recommended by an in-the-know wine industry expert, we decided to give it a go. What a better fit for football- alongside wings, nachos, queso, chili, or whatever else you’ve got on your spread- than a box of wine?
Viña Borgia is a Spanish red made from 100% Garnacha, and as the Spanish often do, they have produced a great wine, at a great price. You’ll delight in its fresh red fruit, pepper, and slight smokiness- and be amazed by it’s incredible structure, and appreciate it’s versatility with a wide range of foods.
It was our friends at Vine Lore, a locally owned brokerage here in Utah that turned us on to this Spanish sipper. Their portfolio is varied, intriguing, and trustworthy. They seek out smaller, family owned wineries, with a big emphasis on quality. And something that I love- they have a super cool feature on their website which allows one to see inventory count at each Utah DABC store, for each of the wines they rep. As a note: When searching for the Viña Borgia at your local store, be aware that it comes in only the 3000mL box and a larger 1500mL bottle, so you’ll need to look in the oversize and magnum bottles section if buying a bottle, and the boxed wine section (obv) for the box.
Pleasant companion for: Tomato sauces, pizza, pasta, grilled or roasted meat, cheese and charcuterie, burgers, spicy or ethnic foods, barbecue sauces, roasted vegetables.
Try with our Buffalo-style Bean Dip.
